Miles Smith can trace its origins to 1925. In 1936 we were incorporated as a Lloyd's Broker named Harding Anderson and Game Limited. In 1965 the company was acquired by RJ Miles and CS Smith and was renamed Miles Smith, Anderson and Game Limited. In 2000 Miles Smith regenerated under the leadership of Paul Chainey, who is still the Group CEO today.
We currently employ 220 staff across Miles Smith Insurance Group, 80 of whom work directly for Miles Smith Insurance Solutions. We are market leaders in arranging insurance solutions for businesses operating in high-risk and specialist industries. We are proud to have long-standing relationships with the UK's leading insurers, allowing us to negotiate exclusive terms and rates for our customers.
Miles Smith Insurance Solutions are looking forward to growing further in our specialist industries in the forthcoming years. We are planning to heavily invest in our staff to support their development and ensure that we are always providing the best service and experience for our clients.
Our Core Values
Our business is founded on this sound philosophy of John Ruskin.
“It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that’s all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.”
We currently employ 220 staff across the Group. We recognise the importance of our staff in fulfilling our aims and have focused on, and invested in, maximising their potential by providing them with free interests in equity and implementing and developing our training and competence policy.
Our commitment to our staff is demonstrated by our Investors in People accreditation, which we are proud to have held for the last 8 years.

"When large/complex claims occur, Miles Smith are right alongside us. This was typified when a significant fire affected one of our sites several years ago. The business interruption claim alone totalled several million pounds but was settled within a 2-month period, meaning the impact on our business was minimised and flexibility retained."
"We have dedicated loss adjusters and risk engineers/surveyors who are available to us 24/7 and, in case of employers' liability claims, there is an early dialogue to agree the best course of action in respect of defensibility or, in some cases, an agreement to the liability claim."
“We were with the same insurer that we were before, but the service is better because of the broker. In addition, when we appointed Miles Smith, we were already in a long term agreement with the insurer but they were able to renegotiate the agreement and provided us with considerable cost savings.”
